Your story in Tuesday's Tribune about Sen. Joseph McCarthy ("Motley crew") interested me. During the 1953 investigation the senator accused the United States Army of being soft on communism.

The senator was dead wrong. The army counterintelligence corps investigated the communist party. I know. I was one of the CIC undercover agents who infiltrated the party during World War II.
