As a brand-new alumna of Marquette and an avid Marquette basketball fan, I have to say that I am appalled by the actions of the Sixth Man, aka the student section. The past two home games I have attended have been ruined by a current Marquette student.
At the Providence game, my fellow alum and I were asked to "sit down and if you want to stand why don't you wait outside for two hours." At the Louisville game with 30 seconds left in the first half, my fellow alum and I were asked to "sit down." Then because we didn't, I had a liquid substance poured onto my jacket by a 'student' (he wasn't wearing gold, sorry I'm judging).
So let me get this straight: Because I am showing my support to Papa Crean and the boys even when they are losing, I have my items damaged? Wow, Marquette students are really "Being the Difference."
Maybe I'm being sensitive and snotty about how a Marquette fan should act, but I can't help but be nostalgic.
Remember when Marquette students slept overnight in front of the Bradley Center for a 7 p.m. game just to get a seat in the lower bowl?
