In the Tuesday story "Tuition spikes $1,600 for '07-'08," the numbers in the second paragraph that pertain to room and board costs were incorrectly attributed to Brigid O'Brien Miller, director of university communciation. Instead, the numbers came from the Feb. 1 University News Briefs e-mail and the Marquette University "Quick Facts" Web site.
However, the numbers provided by these university sources were incorrect.
The numbers should have been $8,336.67 for the 2006-'07 school year and $8,880 for the 2007-'08 school year; the difference is $543.33, which is an increase of 6.52 percent.
The Tribune independently confirmed these amounts. It did so by averaging the yearly cost for a student to live in a double-occupancy room in Cobeen, McCormick and O'Donnell halls with a 19-meals-per-week plan.
The figures in the graphic accompanying "Tuition spikes $1,600 for '07-'08" were incorrect. They included both tuition and fees, not just tuition as the label indicated.
