The January 25 drive brought in 64 units of blood, compared to the expected level of 60 units, McNeal said.

The Blood Center strives to collect 700 units of blood each day, McNeal said. "The need is constant."

Students interested in donating can call the Blood Center at 1-877-BE-A-HERO (1-877-232-4376).

Students should wait six to eight weeks between donations, according to Kevin Siebenlist, associate professor of biomedical sciences. The wait is necessary to restore blood cells after a donation, Siebenlist said.
