The student was approached from the rear by four unidentified suspects, who forcibly removed his property.
The suspects obtained the student's cell phone, which was valued at $50, and his wallet, valued at $15, which contained $10 cash.
The student first reported the incident to DPS on Nov. 14. He told DPS he had left a party and knew the area and wanted to walk around, according to Shaw.
DPS did not release the information about the incident until Nov. 18 because the department wanted to investigate the crime further investigate the incident, Shaw said.
