August was the third-busiest month ever at the airport, according to information released by the county executive's office last week. The month was 14.2 percent busier than August 2004. Overall the first eight months of 2005 have been 9.83 percent busier than last year.

Mitchell airport is now the 50th largest airport in the nation, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation.
