Thank you Tiger Woods for showing us once more why you are the greatest golfer of our generation. On Sunday, Woods captured his second straight World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship title. Even though his play was average for the day, Woods managed to eliminate Davis Love III.
This is Tiger's 40th win in his brilliant career and he improves his record in match play format to an astonishing 20 wins in 23 opportunities. The problem with Woods was that he was sporadic with his drives, which left him with unique approach shots at La Costa Resort and Spa. Love struggled to take the mistakes left by Woods and capitalize on them.
As Woods battled his swing all day, Love was busy contemplating why a heckler was harassing him. As the momentum shifted on the second 18, Woods knew it was his match to lose.
Following his conquest, Woods left immediately for the Middle East as he prepares for this week's European Tour event in Dubai. It was entertaining to witness golf's version of "The Big Dance" before the real deal kicks off.
The most impressive characteristic that Tiger displayed this week was his drive to win and excel. Even though the round may go sour at first, he has the capacity to make a shot or a putt and then the round changes instantly.
The gap between Woods and the rest of the pack has just exploded further to the point of the disparity between the rich and the poor in this country.
Congratulations to Annika Sorenstam for winning the ANZ Ladies Masters for the third time on Sunday. She plans to concentrate on capturing all the majors on the LPGA Tour.
An enormous thank you goes out to all those people that managed to get their hands on Cubs tickets this past weekend. Big shout out to the women's basketball team for their clutch victory over DePaul. Thank you BCS for adding a fifth bowl and keeping with the theme of controversy when it comes to determining a true champion.
For all those referees in the NBA that took part in the silent protest for their fellow worker hope it continues. To all the baseball players who are in favor of steroid testing, hope you are not the one caught in the act.
