“It’s unfortunate that Katie can’t play out her career at Marquette,” head coach Terri Mitchell said. “Katie has to do what’s in her best interest, and Marquette isn’t in her future plans.”
Alsdurf, a native of Forest Lake, Minn., was part of a women’s team that finished the 2002-03 season with a 14-12 record. Marquette reached the second round of the Conference USA 2003 Women’s Baskeball Tournament before ending up on the wrong end of a buzzer-beater in a dramatic overtime loss to Charlotte.
The Golden Eagles then earned a bid to the Women’s National Invitation Tournament, where they made it to the second round before being eliminated by Iowa.
Alsdurf finished her Marquette career averaging 9.7 points per game and shooting 36.2 percent from the floor.
Because of NCAA rules governing transfer eligibility, Alsdurf will sit out the upcoming season before joining the Golden Gophers for the 2004-05 season. She will have two years of eligibility left.
