The Marquette men's and women's club rowing team had a strong showing in the Indianapolis Collegiate Invitational on Saturday. All but one Marquette team that competed advanced to the finals of their event.
The Marquette men competed on the varsity level in the four- and eight-boat events. In the four-boat event, Marquette competed with a team of lightweight men and finished third in their heat and seventh in the finals.
The eight-boat team ran into a fast heat, according to team member Lauren Waraxa, and did not advance to the finals, but took second in a third-level competition. The freshman four-boat team finished second in their heat and fourth in the finals.
The women's varsity eight-boat team took third in their heat and came in fifth in the finals of the event. The women's novice eight boat took third in their only completion and the novice four boat took third in their heat and fifth in the finals.
The team will now prepare for a competition in Skokie, Ill., on Saturday.
