With options like Jimmy John's, Subway and Cousins Subs for a quick and "healthy" meal, your best bet is to go with Jimmy John's. The sub tested wasn't messy, tasted good and was the cheapest sub overall.
Efficient, fast and friendly service gave them the edge over the healthier Subway and the tastier but more expensive Cousins Subs. Also, adding extras to the sub, such as lettuce and tomato, are free so you don't have to worry about spending more on a meal item that is healthier.
Each sub reviewed was a typical ham, provolone, tomato, lettuce sandwich with mayo. With Jimmy John's, their French style bread helped keep the juices inside the sub, where as Cousins' and Subway's softer bread left a mess on me and my carpet. Even though Jared lost half of himself with Subway, considering the option of build-your-own-sub, it can be very easy to look over the healthier options on the menu for a tastier selection.
If needing to stick to a budget, Jimmy John's compensates that. The price for one of their 8-inch subs stays under $4 where both Subway and Cousins were between $4-5. Subway had a 6-inch sub for a little over $4 and Cousins 8-inch was over $4 as well.
If you are craving something other than pizza at 1 a.m., Jimmy John's is open late and delivers, an option that Subway and Cousins Subs doesn't have. Jimmy John's is open till 3 a.m., and Cousins is only open till 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 p.m., the rest of the week. The latest Subway is open is midnight.
Even with the occasional mess-ups, Jimmy John's quickness will keep the wait down come lunch and dinnertime. Both Subway and Cousins took from five to 10 minutes to make the sub, cutting into valuable study time.
As for atmosphere, Subway and Cousin's wall furnishings are a bare minimum, where as Jimmy John's is plastered with them. The friendliness is inviting, making it hard to resist sitting down and eating there.
