You arrive on campus and immediately hear about Angelo's, the "bar on the corner" that draws in all walks of life and guarantees for an interesting, and entertaining experience.
But Angelo's is not just a corner bar. It works to provide the surrounding Milwaukee community with excellent Italian food rooted in deep family tradition and authentic Italian heritage.
Originally opened in 1956 at the location where George Webb's now thrives, Michael and Virginia Albano had the vision to provide Milwaukee with excellent Sicilian recipes, making Angelo's Pizza only the third pizza restaurant to open in Milwaukee.
The restaurant moved to its current location at 16th and Wells in the mid-1970s and 50-years and three generations later, is still providing the community with original recipes.
From pizzas to pastas to desserts, every item on Angelo's menu is homemade, handmade, and prepared fresh daily from some of the best products available. The bread is purchased daily from the oldest Italian bakery in town. The meats are hand sliced. The desserts serve as the sweetest and most authentic conclusion to your meal.
Pizzas offer numerous options, from style of crust (Sicilian, Chicago, and stuffed) to toppings to sizes. Sandwiches, from Italian steaks and beef to chicken and fish, are served with fries and offer a prime substitution for your commercialized sub-sandwiches at other local restaurants. Pastas, from handmade lasagna (the best!) and your traditional spaghetti to cheese-filled ravioli and mostaccioli, with your choice of sauce, soup or salad and Sicilian-style or garlic bread on the side.
Angelo's, your "corner bar" has even been featured on the Food Network, showcasing the newly infamous "Lasagna Sticks;" its handmade lasagna rolled tightly in a thin wonton noodle and deep-fried until crisp, served with marinara sauce on the side. They are currently being trademarked for individual vending.
Prices at Angelo's are comparative to all other restaurants on campus. For approximately $6 or $7, you can enjoy a fresh Italian meal that will probably suffice as tomorrow's lunch as well!
In those cold winter months, when walking two blocks in Milwaukee's bitter winds sounds impossible, Angelo's is also available to deliver.
Dining for dinner may be tough in the later hours at Angelo's as it becomes one of Marquette's hottest spots between 11 p.m., and 2 a.m., being not only crowded, but smoky as well. When eating, anytime before 11 p.m., would be a more comfortable suggestion.
Open seven days a week, serving food until at least 1 a.m., Angelo's will satisfy your Italian cravings with its authentic Sicilian recipes and welcome you into the family that has provided Milwaukee with excellence for the past 50 years.
