It all began one fateful night in the McCormick Hall Council meeting room with a little Usher music. There’s something about “Yeah” that must be binding. Four years later we find ourselves, older, somewhat wiser and, above all, empowered. Next stop: White House?
Name: Ray Redlingshafer
Age: 22
College: Business Administration
Major: Finance
Campus Activities: MUSG, Kappa Sigma Fraternity, Campus Ministry.
I have been fortunate to take part in a lot of activities across campus. I started off my freshman year on McCormick Hall council, the Club Ultimate Frisbee Team and Kappa Sigma Fraternity, and from there I have moved on to MUSG, being a Resident Assistant, Campus Ministry and several other activities. I think one of the greatest things about Marquette is all it has to offer to its students, and I have tried to take part in as much of that as I could.
My Journey
When it comes to my journey, I look at my end goals and what it will take to get there. There are two parts to most lives: the family and the profession. My ultimate goal is to raise a happy and healthy family because more than anything in life, I believe that is the legacy you leave on this earth. One of my professional life goals is to be the mayor of a town. I went into government because I like to help people, and at a local level, it is easier to make a more direct and significant impact.
The Roads I Took to Get There
I think there are several things that will get me to my end goals. Specifically, having a strong backing in faith has always gotten me through both the good and the bad times, my family has always been there to help and to support me and my life experiences help me make better future decisions.
Continuing the Journey
As of right now, I am focused on the immediate future. In my sophomore year I was diagnosed with chronic Lyme disease, so I will be taking some time off to fully cure that, and then I plan to move on to taking the LSAT.
