The ‘Check Mate’ trend has slowly started to reveal after the Louis Vuitton 2013 RTW collection. The Parisian collection was very 1960’s inspired…notice how the checkered print is very Mod and graphic. Mod was heavily influenced by music, fashion and icons in the generation. Many would associate this style as something seen in Austin Powers or a Twiggy photo shoot. The look is very bold, modern and trendy. Designers are inspired by previous styles from generations and represent them in today’s collections.
Models walked in pairs to show efficiency and collaboration. Of course these types pieces could be worn separately, which is encouraged. The idea is to use the checkered print as your statement piece. A checkered pencil skirt with a simple top can be a perfect outfit, classy and professional. The goal can even have the checkered print as an accessory or bag.
