At Summerfest, I was lucky enough to interview the band Phox, an emerging band with a beautiful sound from Madison, WI. If I could compare Phox’s sound to anyone that hasn’t heard them, I’d say that the lead singer Monica’s voice sounds somewhat similar to Feist. Aside from an amazing performance, another thing that caught my attention was Monica’s personal style.
Rocking high-waisted A-line skirts, and tops with vintage floral details, Monica’s fashion sense is definitely something worth noting. When I commented about her style in my interview, she said “Of course I see people and things that I really like, but mostly I’ve dressed myself fairly similarly but just changing different elements.”

This geometric print top above is an example of how Monica sticks to her “main style” but also integrates different elements. Love it.

The outfit above it a bit more muted in terms of color, but the nude collared top still stands out in a big way. Once again rocking the high-waisted skirt, Monica looks very clean-cut and sophisticated in this outfit.I’ll also take some time to comment on Monica’s hair and makeup. Rocking the bold cat eye, Monica makes winged eyeliner one of her trademark looks. In most of the photos I’ve seen of Monica, she leaves her curly textured her in its natural state, but always seems to style it differently. Her hair and makeup always looks impeccably styled.

This outfit is probably my favorite one that Monica has worn. It’s sexy but also elegant. The bandeau peeking through the black sheer top is a great summer look. I love the subtle neutral color and the texture of the high-waisted skirt she’s wearing. And of course, a bold red lip never disappoints. The yellow tied headband also adds a nice touch and contrast to Monica’s gorgeous jet-black locks.
This picture is from when I interviewed Monica and Matt and Summerfest. Monica’s floral crop tank and denim midi skirt was clean, crisp and subtle in the best way. Kudos to Monica–her style is just as beautiful and impeccable as her voice.
