I woke up this morning to discover my phone blowing up with texts about my least favorite topic. Housing. I hate housing. I hate leases. They make me nervous and jittery, sweaty and psycho (my apologies go out to anyone who had a class with me today). But of course, it would be completely illogical of me to want to get at least a month into this school year before I decide where I want to live next year. I mean, seriously. I still haven’t unpacked my socks (don’t judge me people). But no. Not an option. It’s Sept. 19 and everyone is pretty much done signing leases for next year. So much for me and my socks.
So while it would be hypocritical for me to suggest my fellow panickers calm down, since I will be unable to focus on anything as trivial as tying my shoelaces until I sign my lease for next year, I do suggest you don’t irrationally or blindly sign one – even if you are panicking. Plenty of places still have room, even if it’s not your dream apartment. Check out Marquette’s off-campus housing guide – something I wish I’d known about last year, when I was even more psychotic about the whole off-campus housing search. On that note, I’m off to go call some more landlords instead of studying.
