Sam Hauser coming into his own this season

Andrew Goldstein, Sports Content Executive January 18, 2018
Hauser's progression is often lost in the excitement of the two guards’ frequent scoring outbursts. Since last year, Hauser’s points per game has increased from 8.8 to 15.1. He’s the consensus third scoring option on Marquette’s loaded offense — a reliable shooter that can consistently take advantage of defenses that over-commit to Marquette’s ballhandlers.

Leaving high school a semester early was never on 2018 Marquette basketball recruit Joey Hauser's radar. All that changed last month when ankle surgery cut his high school basketball career a season short. “The...

Markus Howard has scored double-digit points in 11 consecutive BIG EAST contests.

BIG EAST coaches offer praise for Howard, Rowsey

John Steppe, Assistant Sports Editor January 16, 2018
Few players in the BIG EAST have the chance to score 30-plus points on a regular basis. Marquette has two of them: sophomore Markus Howard and senior Andrew Rowsey. Through Marquette's first six BIG EAST games, the duo has attracted plenty of attention from coaches in the conference.

International basketball players celebrated Christmas, spent winter break in U.S.

Andrew Goldstein, Sports Content Executive January 16, 2018
Most of Marquette’s basketball players enjoyed Christmas at home before returning to Milwaukee for competition a few days later. Men’s basketball sophomore Harry Froling, who lives in Townsville, Australia, didn’t have that option. Leaving after the Dec. 21 game against American and then making it back for the Dec. 27 conference opener against Xavier wasn’t possible.

Men’s Hockey looks to get semester started on right foot

Sammi Alexander, Sports Staff Writer January 16, 2018
The Marquette men’s hockey team ended last semester on a high note with a three-game winning streak and are hoping to keep the momentum. Back in December, Marquette swept Northern Michigan University, beating them 9-2 in its first game and 9-3 in its second game. After six weeks off for the holidays, Marquette is anxious to get back on the ice and compete.
Greg Elliott has seen much more playing time since the start of BIG EAST play.

Familiar faces help Elliott assume larger defensive role in BIG EAST play

John Steppe, Assistant Sports Editor January 16, 2018
At this time last year, Marquette freshman Greg Elliott was a high school senior in Detroit hoping to land his first high-major college basketball offer from a school other than DePaul. Now, Elliott has a much bigger battle — guarding many of the best guards in the BIG EAST on a defensively-challenged Marquette basketball team.
Theo John scored a career-high 12 points.
