The Marquette Golden Eagles (3-3) host the No. 16/18 Georgetown Hoyas (6-1) at Valley Fields Saturday afternoon to kick off BIG EAST conference play. The Golden Eagles have lost their last three games, falling to Bellarmine, Robert Morris and Michigan. Marquette started off the season with three straight wins, one of which was against a top 10 Ohio State team. However, in their last three games, the offense has screeched to a halt, scoring only five goals per game. Head coach Joe Amplo thought Marquette lacked urgency in the loss to the Michigan Wolverines.

After the final horn sounded on Marquette’s season-ending 85-80 defeat against Penn State, the gold-clad student section stood up in unison for one final chant. “Thank you, Rowsey,” the Marquette fans chanted melodiously, “Thank you, Rowsey.” Rowsey briefly acknowledged them with a wave of his hand. As he walked toward the tunnel, he pulled the shooting sleeve off his right arm and tossed it into the crowd before disappearing from view.

As Marquette's women's basketball took the floor at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky last Sunday, the Golden Eagles were going up against a powerhouse. Louisville was the top seed in the Lexington region, had 8,047 fans in attendance and was 40 minutes away from its fifth Sweet 16 appearance in the last six seasons. Now Marquette head coach Carolyn Kieger is trying to replicate the Cardinals’ rapid ascent in the college basketball world at her alma mater.
