Women’s lacrosse earns historic bid to BIG EAST Tournament with victory over UConn

The women’s lacrosse team made program history Saturday afternoon, winning a berth in the BIG EAST tournament for the first time after a 15-14 win over the University of Connecticut. Senior midfielder Allison Lane scored the game-winning goal with 1:55 left in the second half.

No. 3 seed women’s tennis eliminated in semifinals of BIG EAST Tournament

Following a sweep of Villanova in Cayce, South Carolina, Marquette women's tennis fell to No. 2 seed DePaul, 4-2, in the BIG EAST semifinals. The Golden Eagles started out on a high note by winning a doubles point, but could not keep up that momentum for singles.
Josh Coan is one of the latest players to transfer in to the mens soccer program. Coan came from the University of Pittsburgh.

While junior goalkeeper Luis Barraza realizes it's only the end of the spring season, he's already zeroed in on a goal for next season. "(Making the BIG EAST Tournament) is something that we must do. This year is kind of make-or-break," Barraza said. "It's that little thing that I haven't been able to do, or the team hasn't been able to do as long as I've been here. We need to make it no matter how."
Connor McClelland is second on the team with 14 goals.

Unpredictable weather causes frustration for club sports

With a mixture of cold, rain and even snow, many club teams have been forced to cancel games and practices that were scheduled to be played outdoors. High temperatures were in the 30s as recently as last Wednesday and three inches of snow hit the Milwaukee area on top of it. These conditions made playing baseball or softball impossible.

Former Utah State standout Koby McEwen announced his decision to transfer to Marquette Sunday night, just over 48 hours after former Fordham guard Joseph Chartouny committed Friday evening. In one weekend, Marquette went from having two pure guards on its roster to four.
Sophomore Brett Meyers is 17-9 in singles matches this year, the best mark on Marquettes team.

Men's tennis head coach Steve Rodecap is always wary of a bad day striking at the wrong time. “In this sport, it doesn’t matter how good you are on your best day because everyone’s good on their best day,” Rodecap said. “It’s going to be how well you compete when you don’t feel well out there and you’re not striking the ball well." So far, the team has avoided those bad days in its home at Helfaer Tennis Stadium, ending its spring season with a perfect 11-0 record at its home courts. It's the second time in three years that Marquette has ended its year without a home loss.
Womens lacrosse senior  defender Alex Gambacorta is one of five on the team to have attended Loyola Academy, a Jesuit high school in suburban Chicago.

The women's lacrosse team is a tight-knit group, but five players in particular are even closer than the others by virtue of having played together before they got to Marquette. Mary Dooley, Laine Dolan, Alex Gambacorta, Madison Kane and Erin Dowdle all came to Milwaukee from the same high school: Loyola Academy in Wilmette, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago.
