HARRINGTON: Antifa villainization underplays dangers of American fascism

Reilly Harrington, Opinions Columnist May 1, 2018

Nazis marched on American soil in August 2017. This is not a science fiction story or a nightmare. This was, and continues to be, the reality of American politics in our time. White nationalists and...

The Palestine Israel border has long been contested.

BEG: What is actually happening between Palestine and Israel

Aminah Beg May 1, 2018
Since the early twentieth century, Israel and Palestine have fought wars over this issue, and the boundaries recognized today are a culmination of the results of these wars. These disputes began because Arabs saw the influx of Jews into Palestine as an attempt of British colonialism, which no country has really ever been fond of.

OXENDEN: Everything will be fine

McKenna Oxenden, Managing Editor of the Marquette Journal May 1, 2018
Don't forget through teaching and through mentoring to hold people accountable. If there is one thing you've learned from me, I hope that it's OK to be the stern mom (or dad). It's OK for people to "hate" you in the moment. Because whether they realize it 10 minutes or 10 years later, it's the right thing to do.

BEG: Social media does not have liberal bias

Aminah Beg April 24, 2018

Editorial: Voter turnout crucial to national, local issues

April 17, 2018
The importance of students making their voices heard by being informed and active voters are crucial to a successful nation. However, there is a large disconnect between Americans eligible to vote and Americans who actually will cast a ballot.

HARRINGTON: West Virginia strike sets inspirational precedent

Reilly Harrington, Opinions Columnist April 17, 2018
Despite the technical illegality of the unauthorized strike, the teachers of West Virginia closed every school in the state until they were satisfied with the solution met between their representatives and the state government. This sustained strike would not have been possible without the support of parents, local churches and labor organizations such as the Democratic Socialists of America and the International Workers of the World.
KORENICH: Raise server wages, end tipping

KORENICH: Raise server wages, end tipping

Maya Korenich, Opinions Columnist April 17, 2018
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 70 percent of servers are women, and almost half of those are under the age of 25. Tipping can leave a lot of these young women in dangerous settings and open to lewd comments and even sexual assault.
DUFAULT: Raid on office spells trouble for Cohen

DUFAULT: Raid on office spells trouble for Cohen

Jackson Dufault, Opinions Columnist April 17, 2018
If Mueller referred this raid in an attempt to expose the scandal involving Daniels and Trump, then it is clear he is expanding his investigation to include more scandals than just Russian investigation. If that is the case, then Mueller must ensure he does not meddle in any of Trump’s personal affairs, as any evidence found involving Daniels could devolve into a sort of personal attack.
BEG: Equal pay doesnt bring equality for entire gender

BEG: Equal pay doesn’t bring equality for entire gender

Aminah Beg April 17, 2018
Lack of concern for women of color is an integral part of our country’s foundation. The fight for women rights in the 19th century through the works of Elizabeth Cady Stanton and other white women had no intention to include African American women.
