Tweeting for a cause: Professor garners viral attention

"Wow I can't believe this is why Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson broke up," read a tweet sent out Oct. 14 by Tim Cigelski, director of social media for Marquette University. Thousands of people clicked the link on the tweet, trying to gain insight into the celebrity drama. But everyone who clicked the link was redirected to a voter registration page, Vote.org.

Obama endorses candidates, urges voting at local high school

This year Obama endorsed Wisconsin's Democratic ticket with candidates Tammy Baldwin for U.S. senator and Tony Evers for governor. Lieutenant governor candidate Mandela Barnes, 1st Congressional District candidates Randy Bryce and Dan Kohl as well as U.S. Rep. Gwen Moore joined the stage. Mayor of Milwaukee Tom Barrett was also in attendance and spoke at the rally.
Grant Silva, professor of philosophy, lectured on the idea of freedom and how race is tied to that.

Following the statewide primary elections Aug. 14, the Marquette University Law School poll released three polls evaluating voter's feelings about the candidates. The primaries narrowed the playing field down to one candidate from either party for each race, which in-turn narrows polling results, Charles Franklin, director of the poll, said.

Marijuana referendum appears on Nov. 6 ballot

The legalization of marijuana for medical and recreational use is on the Wisconsin Nov. 6 ballot in 16 counties, including Milwaukee county, and two cities as a referendum.

As a part of Respect Life Month and as an effort from Catholic anti-abortion activist group Marquette For Life, flags demonstrating the number of abortions that occur yearly in America appeared last week on Central Mall in front of Lalumiere Hall.

MUPD enacts new diversity liaison officer program

MUPD created the program after a student had a negative interaction with an MUPD officer last year and said he felt racially targeted, Berrios-Schroeder said.
