Essentials and Basics

If I could name some of my favorite outfits, they would consist of black, black and more black pieces. Basically, black isn’t going anywhere. It’s flattering, practical and everyone looks great in it. An essential such as black will always catch my attention.

That being said, Balenciaga’s Fall 2013 Ready-to-Wear made me fall in love. The collection mainly consists of black, with a touch of white here and there. As I was going through the looks, many stuck out to me. Everything was tailored to perfection. The material was consistent throughout, and the predominant color of black kept everything classic. Alexander Wang designed this collection really well.

Old news, but good news, peplum touches presented themselves among the collections. They were slight and small, giving the models a little figure and umph to their bodies. You can never go wrong with a peplum. Mostly, peplums flatter many different types of figures on women.

Black on black on black. and pretty peplums will always be a basic and an essential to looking chic.

Favorite looks:

Slight peplum, killer shoes and an open back. Ladies, if you can work the edgy open back, please do it. (Image from style.com)

The structure on this is so incredible. So sleek and classy, I just want to throw a fur jacket over her and see her strut the streets. (Image from style.com)

Can we just talk about how she looks like a regal goddess with black luxurious fabric dripping over her? Yes. (Image from style.com)

Chic and basic. Again, the structuring looks so crisp. Love the boots, too. (Image from style.com)

The epitome of this look: WORK IT and FIERCE. I absolutely love this forrest green/black fur, it even has a little peplum on the bottom. (Image from style.com)

Of course,  many colors will always have their moments. However, pink is not the ‘new black’, orange is not the ‘new black’, BLACK IS THE ‘NEW BLACK’, always. Pairing an all black chic look with peplum touches can really flatter your body and keep you looking fresh.
