A new Cedar Square LLC apartment building called The M is being proposed for campus, the Milwaukee Business Journal reported today.

The building would have seven stories, 30 three-bedroom units and 12 two-bedroom units, each with in-unit washers and dryers. It would be located at 830 N. 15th St., which is now a parking lot between West Wells Street and West Kilbourn Avenue.

Saab Design is the project’s architect and its president Fouad Saab told the Milwaukee Business Journal that the building will cost more than $6 million to build and could start being constructed this June to open in summer 2017.

The push to create a new building comes from non-undergraduate students in need of housing, Saab told the Milwaukee Business Journal.

The newest Marquette apartment building, Ivy on Fourteenth, opened its doors in fall 2014. The Eleven25 at Pabst apartments are under construction and will open to Marquette and other Milwaukee students this August.

Cedar Square LLC filed an application for the building with the City of Milwaukee, according to the report. It will be reviewed by the Milwaukee Board of Zoning Appeals on March 10.
