Online election polls for Marquette Student Government residential senators will open Wednesday, Sept. 16 at midnight and close 24 hours later.

“I hope that the new senators are passionate about serving the students of Marquette and addressing the needs and concerns of these students,” said Amanda Stolz, MUSG legislative vice president, in an email. “I look forward to mentoring them and accomplishing many things in the upcoming year.”

MUSG reminded students to vote for candidates from their community, whether it’s residence hall, off-campus or commuter. Students will receive the link for voting in an email.

Out of the 18 candidates, Eliza Luvianos, Michaela Bear, Courtney Guc and Clayton Keefe are running for re-election. Each candidate wrote a short statement about their goals, and those can be found online.

Mashuda Hall and Carpenter Tower are unrepresented in the candidate pool. To fill these seats, Stolz will appoint a resident from both buildings.

“Even (for those) not involved in student government at all, it’s very important (to vote),” Vice President Aliya Manjee said at the kick-off MUSG senate meeting on Sept. 14.

A news conference to announce the results will be held Sept. 18 at 12 p.m. outside the MUSG office. MUSG will also be posting the results on Facebook, Twitter and its website.

MUSG is also looking to fill positions for parliamentarian, program board volunteers and All-University Committee representatives. There are also several open academic senate seats for the College of Health Sciences, College of Education and College of Communication.
