Video tour of Humphrey Hall after its dorm renovation

Video by Brian Georgeson

Humphrey Hall opened its doors this week for the first time as a residence hall.

The building was converted from a campus apartment building to a freshman and sophomore residence hall over the summer. It houses 290 students and 12 resident assistants. McCabe Hall was converted from a sophomore residence hall to apartments over the summer to offset Humphrey’s transformation.

Rick Arcuri, director of business operations and auxiliary services for the Division of Student Affairs, said the five buildings north of Humphrey were torn down because of their age and condition. Those include the Athletic Support Facility and the old child care center.

Arcuri said the space where those buildings were will be used as recreational green space. Included in that green space will be a wraparound patio for the back north side of Humphrey.
