Spring trends: mesh and sport influences

As if it really couldn’t come sooner, it’s finally starting to warm up here at Marquette. The Midwest has been going through some crazy weather changes, perhaps deserting us from our targeted style ideas. Now that spring is gradually let’s ditch the heavy fabrics and opt for lighter materials. Mesh, sporty and 1990’s fashion influences are very prominent this spring. These influences can be seen on the runway, through street style and all over fashion blogs. The Spice Girls, Selena and Aaliyah are making a comeback with this style. It’s effortless and doesn’t call for much detail. The laid-back aesthetic definitely correlates with spring fashion.

Mesh loose crops, skirts and dresses can easily be worn with a bandeau or even a sports bra. They also make great bathing suit cover-ups. So many different periods of time and films influence this look. The Craft, Clueless and other late 1990’s films can give you some inspiration. To channel the sporty influence, cool-toned neon colors, harem pants and jersey make the look more casual.
