Marquette men’s basketball guard Vander Blue is set to appear in court this afternoon on a single charge of assault and battery.

The hearing is in response to a citation issued at 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 24 at 1610 W. Wells St., according to the Milwaukee Municipal Court’s website. Blue, a freshman in the College of Communication, has entered a plea of not guilty.

A Marquette spokesperson could not be reached for comment as of press time.

Brigid O’Brien Miller, a Marquette spokeswoman, told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that the university was made aware of the citation at the time of the incident. The Journal Sentinel also reported that the case was referred to the student conduct board.

Because of federal privacy rules governing students, Miller told the Journal Sentinel she could not disclose the outcome of the student review.

Blue entered Marquette last fall as third-year coach Buzz Williams’ highest-rated recruit. The former star at Madison Memorial High School averaged 5.1 points and 2.8 rebounds in 19 minutes per game in his first season.
