If DJ Bizzon’s Takeover Freestyle Battle doesn’t quite satisfy your craving for hip-hop, add this event into the mix and you’ll be sure to get your hip-hop fill.

The Miltown Beat Down is coming back for its 6th annual battle of hip-hop producers looking to show off their talents.

Created six years ago by Jordan Lee, aka DJ Madhatter of the Rusty Ps, this year’s event will consist of four preliminary battles with four contestants in each. Two contestants from each prelim will advance to the finals.

According to the event’s website, the Miltown Beat Down grew out of Lee’s “desire to see more diversity and togetherness in Milwaukee’s hip-hop scene, a scene that historically has been both ethnically and stylistically segregated.”

The prelims will take place on a series of Thursdays at The Wicked Hop’s Jackalope Lounj on May 12, 19, 26 and June 2. Each event is free and will feature DJ sets by Milwaukee’s own Kid Cut Up.

The finals will be held on June 10 at Turner Hall Ballroom. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.

This series has gained some notoriety, as Questlove of The Roots, Maseo of De La Soul and D.A. Wallisch of Chester French have all been judges in the past.

Lee is still looking for producers to compete, and you can register here if you think you’ve got what it takes to be the next winner of the Beat Down.
