DPS Reports 1/26

Jan. 22

At 5:19 p.m., Department of Public Safety officers were dispatched to Straz Hall after residence hall staff reported a suspicious odor coming from a room on the 13th floor. When DPS announced themselves and entered the room, the resident denied smoking. The resident said he had not been smoking, but when his roommate and a friend returned to the room, the roommate admitted to smoking. DPS removed several empty liquor bottles, several cans of beer and a glass bong. All three students were cited by Milwaukee Police Department.

At 8:15 p.m., DPS officers were called to McCormick Hall after the staff was suspicious of a drug transaction occurring between a resident and an employee of a local business. DPS conducted a search of the student’s room and confiscated several cans of beer, a bottle of alcohol and a glass smoking pipe with marijuana residue. MPD was contacted and the student was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and underage alcohol possession.

Jan. 23

At 7:43 p.m., officers witnessed a student in the alleyway in the 1800 block of North 14th Street in possession of beer. When officers approached, the individual admitted to being underage. When asked how he obtained the beer, the individual surrendered a falsified State of Maine ID card. DPS confiscated the ID and poured out the beer.

Jan. 24

At 3:38 a.m., officers were sent to the 3rd floor of McCormick Hall after a staff member reported a suspicious odor. Officers determined which room the smell originated from and announced themselves. The resident responded, along with two other individuals in the room, and DPS conducted a search of the room. DPS found a pouch containing a green, leafy substance. The other individuals produced other drug paraphernalia. Two of the individuals were taken into MPD custody and cited for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
