DPS Reports 11/3

Oct. 30

At 12:48 p.m., the Department of Public Safety met with a female student who reported her secured, unattended car had been stolen from Campus Town Parking Lot 3. The stolen vehicle is described as a gray 1999 Dodge Intrepid. The student had last seen her car two days before, when she checked to ensure it was locked and in the lot. When investigating, DPS officers reviewed surveillance video that revealed the vehicle was stolen on Oct. 29. The Milwaukee Police Department was contacted and a report was filed. The estimated loss is $5,000.

Oct. 31

At 10:29 p.m., DPS was contacted by MPD to assist in responding to an illegal tavern operation at a house in the 900 block of North 18th Street. MPD officers on regular patrol noticed the house because of an abnormally large amount of people outside. One 20-year-old student was charged with operating a tavern out of his leased house and selling alcohol to underage persons. He faces a fine of $3,211. More than 30 students were cited for underage consumption and are facing fines that could amount to more than $300 per person.

At 1:55 a.m., DPS was dispatched to Schroeder Hall after a resident mistakenly turned in falsified identification to gain access to the residence hall. Upon arrival, the student told officers that she obtained the ID from an online service. DPS confiscated the ID.

Nov. 1

At 12:44 a.m., DPS met with a male student who reported being harassed at a business in the 1600 block of West Wells Street. The student was in the establishment when he noticed a female student he had previously been romantically involved with enter the business with another male. A verbal altercation then ensued. DPS gave warnings to both parties.

At 3:01 a.m., MPD cited a 19-year-old student for using a falsified ID and for underage consumption of alcohol at McCormick Hall. Officers had encountered the student hours earlier while performing a routine tavern check at Angelo’s Pizza. MPD discovered the student was drinking and had a fake ID. Officers told him to remain in the building while they proceeded with their tavern check. When officers returned, the student was gone. MPD then contacted DPS with information collected from the ID and were led to the student, who is a resident at McCormick Hall.
