Sometimes I think Facebook has gone too far. First they added photos, then came Top Friends and Applications. Now one of those Applications is pushing the envelope – in a hilarious way.
Burger King launched an application this month called Whopper Sacrifice where you can de-friend 10 people to get a free Whopper. Your ten former Facebook friends get a message that you chose a Whopper over them.
This is a great way to mess with your close friends – who you will re-friend anyway – and get rid of the people you never Facebook anyway. You know the ones: the guy who you had a freshman history discussion with but whose last name you never rememeber and the girl you think you know through your roommate’s boyfriend’s cousin. If we had a Burker King close to campus, I bet this would really take off at Marquette since we are all poor college students. But since we don’t and I’m not a huge fan of million calorie burgers, I’ll keep my Facebook friends for now.
But if I could get a free Chipotle burrito or Jimmy Johns sandwich for de-friending people, I would have no friends left.
