The women's volleyball team may have seen its Big East tournament hopes dashed this weekend after losing road matches to UConn and St. John's. The Golden Eagles took the Huskies to five games on Saturday but were unable to come up with the win, losing 3-2 (17-30, 29-31, 41-39, 30-20, 13-15).
Marquette then traveled to St. John's on Sunday to take on the second-place Red Storm and promptly lost 3-0 (24-30, 21-30, 26-30).
Marquette's record now sits at 8-14 (5-7 Big East), putting it in a tie with Seton Hall for tenth place in the conference. Marquette must make the best of their final two games against Villanova and Seton Hall. Villanova is currently tied with Cincinnati at third place in the Big East.
Both of Marquette's remaining matches are at the Al McGuire Center, where all of its wins have come this season.
The Golden Eagles will need to finish the season in eighth place or better in the conference to qualify for the Big East Tournament to be held at the Al McGuire Center.
