"Bad Pizza Shuttle! Now go sit in the corner and think about what you just did.,”We were hoping that when the Marquette administration decided to no longer allow Pizza Shuttle to be part of the MarquetteCASH program that it was going to be more of a "time out" for our late night refuge.
"Bad Pizza Shuttle! Now go sit in the corner and think about what you just did."
What Pizza Shuttle did was allow Marquette students to purchase alcohol with MarquetteCASH. Now, Pizza Shuttle is facing the consequences for misbehaving by breaking Marquette's rules. It is officially over between MarquetteCASH and Pizza Shuttle, and this is not cool.
It is understandable that the administration wants to show its seriousness with its zero tolerance policy, but why exactly is buying alcohol with MarquetteCASH even an issue? If a student is of age, what is the problem with them spending their MarquetteCASH on alcohol? This rule is confusing. Students can obviously purchase alcohol using other means, but if they're 21, why can't they pull out their MarquetteCard?
Also, the fact that Pizza Shuttle was caught through Marquette's "secret shopper" program seems extreme. Seriously? We have spies for MarquetteCards?
OK, so it's MarquetteCASH policy. Still, this decision against our beloved Pizza Shuttle is harsh treatment to a venue that offers so much to the Marquette student body. Pizza Shuttle and students have a good thing going. We patronize them at odd hours of the night. They stay open until 3 a.m. or 4 a.m., and are one of the few good venues to deliver until late hours of the night-convenient for college students.
They offer Marquette students free coupons with great deals on a regular basis. They give us free magnets with their phone number on them. Most importantly, their broad range of foods like seafood, pizza, ice cream, pasta and beer are greatly appreciated by students.
Wait, beer is not a food, nor should it ever be mistaken as food…nor an item that can be purchased with MarquetteCASH. The risk of awakening the wrath of the Marquette administration is too great for that.
Pizza Shuttle is good to us. They made a mistake and violated our MarquetteCASH policy. Completely breaking off this partnership seems unfair and a bit mean. We've done ourselves a disfavor by ridding ourselves of a safer and more convenient way of purchasing our favorite foods.
Pizza Shuttle is sorry, but the administration is unforgiving. Owner Mark Gold attempted to make amends by attending meetings with the administration and offering to more thoroughly train his employees to refuse MarquetteCASH for alcohol purchases. The administration was not phased.
Anyway, the decision's been made. Luckily, we still have our American cash that our country allows us to spend at Pizza Shuttle, and hey, with this stuff we can even buy beer!
