The lighter side of sports

Texas Tech coach Pat Knight (the son of volatile coach Bobby Knight, famous for smiling, hugs and chair-throwing) might have an anger problem.

It would be fair to say that Saturday night, Pat Knight went nuts. With about nine minutes to go in Tech's home loss to Nebraska, Red Raider guard Alan Voskuil was thrown to the floor and somehow called for a foul.

Knight immediately bolted to a referee and unleashed a fury of expletives that would make Sharon Osbourne wince. Then he turned his rage on another official, who ejected him.

Knight had to be physically restrained by his assistants and was finally dragged off the court. But like a fat kid at the buffet, he wasn't done yet. He broke a tackle and ran on the court to argue some more. Finally, he was escorted off by police to the cheers of the home crowd.

Somewhere, a single tear formulated in the corner of Bobby Knight's eye. That's my boy. Just like his old man.

But don't expect a trend out of Pat. He told the media after the game to not "read too much into" his reaction.

Whatever you say, Pat.
