A campus memorial service will be held for Marquette student Kyle VanderBroek in the Alumni Memorial Union Chapel of the Holy Family today from 5 to 6 p.m.
VanderBroek, 21, passed away Dec. 13, 2008 after falling from the New River Gorge Bridge in Fayetteville, W. Va.
VanderBroek, a junior in the College of Business Administration, was originally from Marietta, Ga. He was a 2006 graduate of Walton High School.
He is survived by his parents Mark and Kathy VanderBroek, sisters Lauren and Lindsay VanderBroek and grandparents David and Barbara VanderBroek and James and Mary McGillivary.
Zachary Meyer, a junior in the College of Arts & Sciences, became friends with VanderBroek their freshmen year.
"Kyle was honest and a very good friend," Meyer said. "He always cared about what your feelings were and always asked how you were doing."
Michael Langdon, a junior in the College of Business Administration, was also a friend.
"Besides always being cheerful, he was kind to everyone, especially his friends," Langdon said. "We will miss him greatly."
A celebration of life service was held Dec. 19 at Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church in Marietta, Ga.
