The most hyped player in the class is 6-foot-1, 190-pound point guard Junior Cadougan (four stars).,”Men's basketball coach Buzz Williams announced his five-man 2009 recruiting class Wednesday night. The consensus top 25 class consists of three four-star prospects, a three-star prospect and a two-star prospect.
The most hyped player in the class is 6-foot-1, 190-pound point guard Junior Cadougan (four stars). Williams said Cadougan is a point guard who he got to know through his AAU coach at Grassroots Canada. Cadougan is ranked as high as 12th (by HoopScoopOnline.com) and as low as 65th (by ESPNU.com).
Erik Williams (four stars) is a 6-foot-7, 200-pound swingman ranked as high as 14th (by HoopScoopOnline.com) and as low as 99th (by Rivals.com). Williams was originally recruited by former Marquette coach Tom Crean and committed to Marquette in October, 2007.
Jeronne Maymon is a 6-foot-6, 230-pounder who played for Madison Memorial High School. Williams said that, although he doesn't like to compare his players to others, some have compared Maymon to NBA star Ron Artest.
The class is rounded out by junior college transfer Dwight Buycks (three stars) and Brett Roseboro (two stars), who just recently started garnering attention from scouts.
Buycks, a 6-foot-3, 185-pound combo guard, was recruited with the expectation that he could come right in and play, said Williams.
The 6-foot-10, 230-pound Roseboro, on the other hand, is more of a long-term project player, who Williams said he sees as a future four for Marquette.
