Interviews to be scheduled for ombuds replacement applicants
There are at least 11 applicants to replace Rita Burns as ombuds, of which about five will be interviewed, according to Elise Sampson, associate professor of dentistry and a member of the Committee on Faculty. The interview dates have yet to be confirmed, she said.
Burns left the ombuds office last summer. Her position was created in 2002 as part of the Gender Equity Implementation Task Force, on which Sampson served. The ombuds serves as a way for faculty to address concerns if they believe the normal channels of communication are insufficient to respond to those concerns.
