2. "Heaven" by John Legend: I really can't say enough about this song, the video and his Once Again CD. Makes you wonder what America's obsession is with American Idol, when someone like Legend would win it every single year – yet his latest has been largely ignored. There's "Soul Patrol" and then there's real soul.
3. "Boston" by Augustana: When I saw these guys open for Counting Crows over the summer, I thought "That's nice, another Graham Colton Band." Except this band's single is actually catching on in the mainstream. Here's hoping they don't become the next The Fray.
4. "Suddenly I See" by KT Tunstall: I tried. I tried not liking Tunstall, tried not liking "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree," but this is just too much. Think Michelle Branch, but better and without an annoying country band.
5. "This Ain't A Scene, It's an Arm's Race," by Fall Out Boy: "Bandwagon's full, please catch another," goes this song from soon-to-be-released Infinity on High. Judging from the dance groove that permeates it, FOB is going in a different direction – hopefully one that leaves the pre-teen girls behind.
