Charles Sykes was chagrined Feb. 2 about the decision of a Marquette University administrator to ban an adopt a sniper project of College Republicans.
Personally, I find nothing wrong with the project. But the administrator undoubtedly has a valid point. Marquette University is supposed to be a Christian university reflecting the values of the Prince of Peace. There is something incongruous and obscene about promotion of "patriotic gore" almost in the vein of "Kill a terrorist for Jesus!" A project of this nature belongs on a secular campus not one that has values which transcend chauvinism, nationalism and even patriotism.
I found it amazing that Sykes did not question why a "war of choice" started by President Bush did not provide for the special needs of snipers? How many young American died because of this gross incompetence on the part of the Bush administration?
But then, Sykes is nothing but a mouthpiece and cheerleader for Bush and his cronies. According to him, they can do no wrong.
