"We recognize The Marquette Tribune as a fine college newspaper that covers its campus and community," the association said. "We note its overall quality, writing and editing. While the Tribune carries personal opinion pieces it does not have an editorial voice."
Receiving second place honors were visual content editor and senior Suzy Finn, former general news editor and junior Andrew Johnson, sophomore and assistant campus news editor Celia Downes and sophomore and assistant sports editor Ryan Nilsson. Finn was honored in the graphics category for "Running on faith," "Globe trotting" and "Game set match." Johnson's award was in feature writing for "Midtown center works to improve image." Downes won in the general reporting category for her story "Tenure a sign of maturity for profs." Nilsson's award was in sports reporting for "Eagles keep it close in tourney loss."
Third place winners included senior Dave Rossetti and sophomore John Heiderscheidt.
