Volunteers are expected to bring cats, dogs and other animals to a former Aldi's grocery store in Racine for processing and foster care or adoption in about a week.

She said they expect about 30 or 40 percent of the animals to be adopted by area residents.

There's a need, too, for people willing to provide temporary care, both women said.
