Guru ties two in Week 5

It should be noted that this is Agovic's second win of the year already. But being a Chicago native, he should have seen that the Bears were ready to get into the win column. Come on, even a cheesehead like me knew it was coming. If he had made that pick, he would have been in sole possession of the weekly crown.

Loyal readers noticed last week that it was the first time in over a year the Guru picked the Bears to win. A field goal from Chicago kicker Paul Edinger as time expired gave the Monsters of the Midway a 24-21 victory over the Oakland Raiders. It is nice to see my rival team get back on its feet. Nobody wants to see their nemesis turn into a gimpy punching bag. This will, of course, not be a trend, as the Bears will only win a game or two more at most this year. But hey, that's why Chicago has the Cubs, right?

After five weeks of impressive wins, it's about time to put the Vikings in the legit contender category. Although the talk of the league is how the Kansas City Chiefs are on the fast track to the Super Bowl, the Vikings have defeated all three of their NFC North competitors. And one of those came on the road against the Green Bay Packers.

Those very Packers play against the Chiefs this Sunday. In the Packers' Sunday win over the Seahawks, the run defense looked exceeding suspect early on. The secondary, on the other hand, is coming together nicely. Led by Mike McKenzie and the now-healthy Darren Sharper, they will force the Chiefs to run. Which, to be honest, is a scary thought.

Either Priest Holmes runs for 200 yards and a few touchdowns, or the Packers shut down Kansas City's offense entirely. After seeing Ray Lewis and Al Wilson in the past two weeks, Holmes will be salivating at the idea of rookie Nick Barnett at middle linebacker.
