The musicianship itself is still undeniably solid, especially Ben Ellman’s bluesy bursts of harmonica, and Theryl de’ Clouet’s gritty, soulful vocals provide a nice dose of Southern comfort. But too often it seems the live energy that Galactic is able to produce so well on stage bubbles to the surface only to have a lid placed on it.
“The Moil” and “Gypsy Fade” are reason to dance, but overall this album doesn’t cause too much of a ruckus.
