The alt-country veteran doesn’t rip Adams on 1997’s South Mouth, but sounds off about the frustrations of trying to make a living as a Nashville songwriter (“F—k This Town”) and explores the real key to a woman’s heart with “I Told Her Lies.” Other highlights include the whimsical “Dirty-Mouthed Flo” and the memorable prison cell ruminations of “Cold Statesville Ground.”
