Whatever happened to the freedom in exercise? The Rec Center has the most up-to-date equipment and the nicest facility around, but do students really have the opportunity to enjoy it?
With the demand of students wanting to use elliptical machines, the Rec Center established the 20-minute limit. I don't know about you, but 20 minutes is not enough time for a good, hearty workout. I need at least 30 or 40 minutes to actually break a sweat.
This rule should be done away with. I wouldn't mind waiting for a machine if it means I can be on it for however long I want.
Another issue with the Rec Center is that you have to go and sign up for the machine hours before you actually use it. Who does this make sense to? I understand the demand for these machines is much higher than the supply, but this solution is not the way to go about it.
The Rec Center should opt to move the elliptical machines into one room; that way, people who want to use a machine can just sit and wait, or go into the other workout rooms to do other forms of exercise. This way, students can run for as long as they like and there is no need to sign up in advance.
