But "Superman Returns" grossed well over $300 million at the box office and had plenty of fans convinced that "The Man of Steel" translated to all generations.

Superman (Brandon Routh) left Earth to search for his home planet. The world was left to its own devices and many wondered where their hero had gone.

He returns and the world cheered, all except for his past love, Lois Lane (Kate Bosworth), and his archenemy, Lex Luther (Kevin Spacey).

Luther has discovered a way to harness Krypton's technology and defeat Superman. "Superman Returns" was without a doubt the best superhero flick to come out of Hollywood this summer and now it hits the Varsity Theatre this weekend.

Showings are Friday at 8 p.m., and Saturday at 8 and 11 p.m.
