Fun. Some Nights

Finally this band is beginning to get the recognition they deserve. Fun. has been around since 2008 after the breakup of the band The Format. With the first single on this album “We Are Young” the band has gained considerable popularity. The song was featured on Glee and a Superbowl commercial this year and spent time at number one on iTunes and is currently in the top ten on iTunes. A nice change to see such a band in the top ten. They are also setting off on a US tour which has several dates, including Chicago, already sold out. The album title track “Some Nights” is sure to be another hit, and is a personal favorite. With the wonderful theatrics and musical talent the is so very fun, this is a song worthy of two or three consecutive plays and it cannot help but bring a smile to your face. The bonus track “Out on The Town” also deserves a special note. In this album the band toys with autotune a bit which brings mixed feelings, while it does bring interest to the album, one has to ask, is it really necessary? Nate Ruess doesn’t exactly need it with the voice he has. But overall this is indeed an excellent album

Cursive I Am Gemini

Latest album from the Omaha rock group released on Saddle Creek Records. This album is a conceptual album centered around the theme of Gemini. An interesting concept to pull through the whole album and I think they did so very well. Almost seem to be telling a story through this album, one must listen the whole way through to truly appreciate this album. A bit of a different vibe from previous albums, but nonetheless, an album you cant help but want to play this at a high volume. Tracks to check out “Cat and Mouse” “Warmer, Warmer” and “Wowowow”

The Mars Volta new single The Malkin Jewel

If you are a fan of the Mars Volta then this single is sure to please and get you excited for the new concept album due to be released March 27th. Experimental but not to the extreme Mars Volta has been known to go. Definitely a good tune with radio playabilty for those who like the prog-rock style. Great first single and excited to hear whats to come from the rest of the album.
