With summer slowly coming to an end and with fall creeping its way in, the boho-chic look is a great fashion trend to rock out this fall. In the fashion world, boho or bohemian, refers to a state of mind that is free-spirited. Many celebritieswork this style, such as Kate Moss, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Nicole Richie and Vanessa Hudgens. Bohemian style became popular in the late 1960s, and since then has transformed into “boho-chic”: a mixture of bohemian and hippie style.

There isn’t necessarily a straightforward guide to dressing “boho-chic”. What’s most important is to remember to embrace your personality, and to express it through your style. There are, however, some general guidelines for boho-chic that can help you pick and choose. Most boho-chic styles are a combination of clothing that flows or drapes off the body carelessly. Boho-chic style can be a mixture of southwestern or tribal patterned fabrics. These fabrics have a little more detail and are mixed and matched with beaded necklaces, bangles, rings, and feathers. Below are some ideas of what to look for when picking your own boho-chic look.

Key hint: When shopping for boho-chic pieces, focus on colors that resemble autumn but also have a hint of summer colors in them. This will allow you to wear these outfits for both seasons. Also because boho-chic style has a lot of patterns and designs, try to focus on a couple of dark auburn and faded pastel colors so that they will blend well together.
