Feeling Iffy About Your Wardrobe?

Your twenties are filled with questions and finding yourself. You’ve gone through numerous phases (preppy, goth, sporty, indie, etc.) and you might still be figuring it all out. So what do you do when you start feeling “iffy” about your wardrobe and style?

This is usually a result from you evolving. and your style evolving. Do you look at other people and feel as if your wardrobe is inadequate and want to throw everything out? You know that feeling? It happens to me every year, however I’ve recently found my own style and while I was tempted to toss my old tops away, I decided to take a more wallet-friendly approach.

DON’T THROW ANYTHING OUT! You’re going through a change and while you think your wardrobe is a mirror of your alt-teen past, you’re most likely wrong. I went through my closet and surprisingly, I kept most of it. Basics, bottoms, accessories, shoes, these are all things that can be paired differently to suit your style and personality. You don’t want to spend hundreds on a new wardrobe, but you can buy a few signature items to complete things you already have.

Once you figure out the style you feel most comfortable and confident in, find bold pieces that can match what you already own. Tops are great for this, you can match them with a pair of jeans, leggings or skirt you may have. You can always get creative with pieces. You can cut, glue, or paint on things you’ve grown tired of. Just shop smart and don’t be afraid to take risks!

Note these wise words from Lucky editor-in-chief Eva Chen, “There’s so much pressure on people to have a rock solid idea of their personal style at your age, but trust me—I’m speaking from personal experience—it’s an evolution. And there is a joy, whether in style or anything else, to taking time to explore and play and learn.”
