Junior Cadougan named to Canadian national team

Tuesday, former Marquette Golden Eagles point guard Junior Cadougan was named to the 2014 Canada Basketball men’s national team. It is his second selection to the team in as many years.

Cadougan was a member of the squad last year for the 2013 FIBA Americas Championship, where he played in 3 games, scoring 5 points in 14 minutes of action. Since his graduation following Marquette’s 2012-13 season, the Toronto, Ontario native has been playing European basketball with Batumi of the Georgian League. He started 22 games for Batumi, averaging 35.5 minutes, 21.8 points, 6.2 assists, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.3 steals per contest.

Despite minimal court action with the Canadian national team a year ago, Cadougan should have playing time this year, as the team has headed to Europe for an 11-game exhibition tour to prepare for the 2014 FIBA World Cup in Spain.
