Golden Eagles vs. Friars

POST PLAYERS: Eagles must contain another big center

Providence has a slight edge down low due to the efficient productivity of 6-foot-11 center Randall Hanke, who is shooting 67.1 percent from the field. Forward Geoff McDermott won't score a lot, but he is among the Big East leaders in rebounding. Marquette's much-maligned post players have saved face in recent weeks due to the solid defensive contributions of Chris Grimm and Ousmane Barro.

COACHES: Crean's player development gives him advantage

Providence head coach Tim Welsh has accumulated a 127-112 record in almost eight seasons with the school and led it to the NCAA tournament twice (2001 and 2004). Tom Crean, now in his seventh year coaching the Golden Eagles, has become the face of Marquette athletics. This year's overachieving combination of experience and youth has only increased his reputation.
